5-Minute Makeup Tips for Moms

5-Minute Makeup Tips for Moms

Let’s be honest, with little ones, sometimes it feels like a win if you manage to brush your teeth and hair before running out the door. While a perfectly contoured full-face of makeup isn’t going to happen, there are a few easy things you can do to add a little glow (and maybe even look like you slept through the night). We turned to our go-to beauty guru, Shannon O’Brien, to give us the lowdown on what makeup matters most when you’re in a rush to get out the door. Here it is- 5 minute makeup tips!

(No brushes involved!)

STEP 1: Moisturize

Glossier Priming Moisturizer, $22

“A little hydration goes a long way! It’s such a simple step that so many people overlook in the morning. If you’re someone that gets shiny throughout the day, this moisturizer will provide that subtle glow without looking greasy.” Shannon recommends applying it right before foundation so it glides on. She guarantees it won’t get stuck on dry skin or look layered!

STEP 2: Bold Brows

Glossier “Boy Brow” in Brown, $16

Bold brows can make a bigger difference in your look than you think! Shannon says brush up and out when applying and run a q-tip around the perimeter of brow to clean up any mess and provide a clean shape.

STEP 3: Perfect Skin

Perfecting Skin Tint, $26

The perfect solution to help even out any discoloration and leaves your skin looking smooth and refreshed (without looking like you have makeup caked on). Shannon recommends putting a bit of the skin tint on the tip of your fingers and working into skin (no brushes). After that, use your fingers to really press the product into your skin. The warmth of your hands helps to melt the product into your skin and really provides an effortless look.

Glossier Stretch Concealer, $18

The best part about this concealer is it won’t look like you’re wearing any! It will cover everything from dark circles (thanks 3 a.m. feeding!) to redness and blemishes. “I use it as needed. Just because you have a small break out or blemish doesn’t mean you have to go full coverage everywhere. Just conceal the spots that need a little more love.”

STEP 4: Add Color

Glossier Cloud Paint, $18

Don’t let the color intimidate you! This gel-cream formula blush is a super easy way to add a little color to your cheeks. Use your middle and ring fingers to apply in a soft circular patting motion. Again, softly pushing the product into your skin to create a seamless wash of color. Add a little of the “dusk” color to your brow bone to act a bit as a contour and make eyes look a bit less puffy. Since the formula is super sheer, it’s really hard to do this wrong! The “Haze” color can also be used to add a bit of color to lips.

STEP 5: Highlight

Haloscope, $22

Highlighters often are overlooked but can do wonders to brighten your face. Trace the highlighter along the high planes of your face—cheekbones, brow bone, bridge of nose + cupids bow. It creates a bit of dimension and brightness. Who doesn’t always need a little extra glow?

STEP 6: Lash Love

Full Lash Multi-Dimension Mascara, $27

When you’re in a rush, you’re better off skipping eyeshadow and liner and focusing on your lashes. Using a curler will open up your eyes and give the appearance of a well rested mama. Apply mascara to top and bottom lashes to really open up the eye. If you really want to up the ante -- try heating up your lash curler with your blow dryer. Make sure it’s cooled down enough to put to your eye by placing it on your wrist to test the temp (like you would a bottle). The heated curler will hold your curl better and last all day.
